same flies I use for trout...
bead head soft hackles and ehc--fish both on the move--catch many on the retrieve--I have great success on larger blue-gills fishing the ehc in the film.

Poppers work great for larger ones--if you get in the midst of a bunch of tinies they will do nothing but *****you off and rip the legs of your poppers.

funny thing.....if you have a lake ( like I do ) where the kids feed the ducks bread, you can "murder 'em" using a #14 EHC tan. Looks alot like a little hunk of white-bread. Although, anything light in color will usually work. For non-bread eating fish , I like the same EHC waxed up really good and twitched across the top! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gifShellcrackers , anyone ??!?!?!?!

I like a pattern that I call the "rubber leggy thingy." I'll usually fish it as a dropper to a size 8 yellow foam hopper. The dropper is tied directly to the bend of the hook of the hopper and is usually 12 to 24 inches long, depending on water depth.

Do not weight the thingy, it fishes best when it leisurely winds it's way down. Slow descent usually means a big bream.

Usually you will see the hopper dance, don't strike. Hold off until the line starts moving smartly. You will find that by waiting, you will catch larger fish, if they are present.

"Rubber leggy thingy"

hook- Mustad 9671 size 10
tail- yellow marabou
body- yellow chenille
overbody- black chenille
legs- yellow rubber legs (3)

Tie in 3 rubber legs crosswise to hook shank. Start the thread at the front and work backwards to tie in the legs. At the bend tie in a short clump of marabou, then tie in yellow chenille, followed by the black chenille. Move the thread to head of fly. Wrap yellow chenille forward and tie off. Lay the black chenille on top of the yellow along the length of the shank. Tie off.

Variations: olive overbody also works nicely.
A small front hackled can be added, if desired.

Notes: Do not substitute dubbing for chenille. The chenille absorbs water better and provides a more realistic slow descent than the more buoyant dubed bodies. It's also far easier to tie. Anything smaller than a size 10 will be swallowed to readily and anything larger tends to cut down on the number of takes.
