FRO # is 706-647-2633 and 706-674-2633.
Shoal areas will be main holding areas for shoalies, but I'd fish some of the deep, slow banks & blowdowns as there are also many largemouths there, too. Bream will be all over, but plenty in shoals.
Re poppers, the fish will almost certainly be on topwaters. That popper recipe on my site is probably a bit large for Flint in most cases, however. I'd scale it down considerably or even use hopper or big ehc - I like em with a wooly dropper. With smaller topwaters, you'll also catch many bream (& they are a hoot in current). Also use weighted buggers as fish like the holes down in the shoals.
You'll have choice of 3 different floats. From Goat Rock back to FRO is a full day trip - probably to much if you wanna do a lot of fishing or unless water is up. Sprewell Bluff back to FRO is easy half day with easy water but good fishing spots; it is most highly used section but shouldn't be too bad then.
From FRO down to Pobiddy Rd. is also half day float (just about right for full-day with fish time). This is my favorite section - a couple of the rapids are a bit more challenging, the fishing is good, and they're less people. The shuttle is more cumbersome as you don't end up back at FRO. You do not want this float if the water is up.
FRO can help you, I'm sure. It's a great trip. Only thing you need to watch is weather, as the water muddies pretty quick with run-off. Let me know if I can help.
