Drifter,
Thanks for posting that link. I don't know why I don't just break down and subscribe to GON; it's quoted frequently by multiple sources.

I've read about the Flint's shoal b****for years, but the location has kept me from giving it a shot. I'm hunting in Monroe county now, and may just have to start heading for home about 05:30 on Sunday mornings this year! Gotta get in on this "low country" smallmouth business. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

By the way - nice to have met you (and of course, everybody else!) at the Fling. Cool boat. I started describing it at home, and my glazed eyes were duly noted. When my wife resorts to logical discussion regarding logistics and proper storage, it's a pretty safe bet that THAT dream ain't happening anytime soon! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/redface.gif

Re: the driftboat

Thanks for the compliment. I meant to bring some of Tatman's catalogs to the Fling, but once again I forgot http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/frown.gif They say your memory is the 2nd thing to go......I forget what the first is.

Anyone wanting a catalog let me know your snailmail address. FYI .. Tatman sells driftboat kits with a 16 footer costing about $750. His site is at:

I picked up a copy of GON the other day, it had the article about the Flint (basically the same one on the web site, but longer). It's got me salivating -- especially after getting skunked for the 3rd straight time on the Hooch. Saw a beautiful 18"er at McGinnis Ferry Sunday, beautifully ensconced in a blowdown, hard as hell getting anything close, and when I did, it was inspected and ignored.
