Until the recent thread, going fishing in the lake at fishing in Piedmont Park had never really occurred to me. My office is only 5 to 10 minutes away depending on traffic. There are a few other flyfishers here in my office and between the lot of us, we finally got out collective acts together and headed over to the park to molest the bream for a little while at lunchtime.

We caught a few average size bream and sever smaller sail-bream but saw several nice b****cruising in the shallows. There's some nice fish in that lake!! Now that I really know its there its time to figure out how to fish it properly. Too bad they won't allow a float tube or a canoe.

Steve,

Is this the lake in the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge?

Nevermind, I think I just answered my question by reading under the "Piedmont Park" thread posted a little while back...

I'm working on a fly to imitate my " secret weapon" that I use with a spinning rod and reel. So , you givin directions to this place? hehehe

Pretty easy to get to Owl. Exit I-85 at the Monroe Drive Exit. Take Monroe Drive east toward Midtown. Cross Piedmont Road. Go about a mile - look for Park Drive on your right. Tuen right on Park. Park on the side of the street before you get to the park gates. Walk across the bridge over the RR - the lake will be in front of you about 150 yeard ahead.

Hey OWL, I've been trying to come up with a fly that does that as well. Email me and will compare notes.
