To all,

In an effort to make licenses easier to purchase the DNR will be selling licenses electronically on the new point of sale(POS)system. It is completely different than the old way. If you don't by a license over the phone (1-888-748-6887), or over the net (www.georgia.org/dnr./wild/), you will be getting them from a machine. Clerks at stores selling hunting and fishing licenses will type in information about you and you will be able to get any license you wish, immediately. You will need to provide a drivers license number, or get an id number (non-residents, or residents who: don't have licenses, or need new senior licenses.

Every vendor will be able to sell every license, and there won't the the extra $4.00 charge you pay for telephone and net purchases.

It should make it easier to get all the licenses you need, especially those late season licenses or trout stamps for out of town visitors.

It a new system so be patient, I'm sure it will be better than the old one.

Bill,

This is great!

This means I won't have a problem getting my fishing license and trout stamp the night before opening day, right? How many times have I gone to the store to get the license only to have the clerk say, "We just sold our last one 5 minutes ago?

My favorite is going to the Hiwassee River in TN, stopping at Adam's to get the license. The clerk says that the Fish and Game folks haven't mailed them yet!

Bill...tell the folks responsible...Thanks! and give them a big wet kiss on the lips for me http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif

Drifter and others,

I also need to mention that lifetime licenses will go on sale for the first time this year. Before you buy your license you may wish to consider one. They are equivalent to the sportsmans license, but last for a lifetime. I'll post more when I know more.
