DNR is changing the license replacement system. Electronic sales of licenses will mean sportsmen who lose their licenses will need to purchase them again, and request a refund through the license unit. There is a minimum $3.00 fee plus the vendor's commission for selling the licenses (usually fifty cents per license).

Bill,

Are all of these changes going to be stated in the fishing and hunting regulations books this year? Will the necessary forms be available at the places that are to be selling the licenses? Are these licenses going to be tough? While I have not lost a license yet (I hope I don't), I have almost destroyed some before. They get wet and the next thing you know, your license carrier card is in half. I do like the idea of not getting the good ol' "I'm sorry, sir. We just sold our last (fill in here) stamp."

We just so our last(carp?)stamp. Never was any good at fill in the blank tests.

From the looks of things I can't spell either. Time for bed!

J Olliff,

I would expect the fishing and hunting regs to outline license sales, but I kno't know for sure.

All licenses will be printed on the same type of paper. The printing on the paper will be the only difference between licenses, or the length of a license (if you get big game stamps). The paper is very durable. I can not tear it, and have heard it is legible after three washings. It does smudge or smear if you try, but I've heard washing the gets rid of the smudges.

As with any change there will be challenges. Still, the system does something for everyone. Vendors, Buyers, and the DNR. I hope there isn't a single problem all year, but I'm not quite that optimistic. Licenses should be on sale everywhere on Monday 3/8/99.
