Bill,

I'm planning a trip up Sunday and will be staying for a week. I got the new fishing regulations book the other day and was looking for boat restrictions on lakes like Rock Creek, Winfield Scott and Dockery Lake. They are not in there this year. Do you know if boats are allowed in these waters? I will be bringing a small boat and electric motor. Maybe a list where they are allowed or not allowed would be useful. I don't want to break any laws by putting my boat in a lake where I'm not supposed to.
I will be fishing creeks, too, but I do want to hit a couple of lakes while I'm there.

Thanks for your help,
John

Haven't checked the regs for this year, but I believe all 3 of the lakes you mentione are open to boats with electric motors( only). but I'm not 100%.....just 99.9%....it's that otherlittle amt. that can get me in trouble ! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

I know for a fact that Winfield Scott is open to boats with electric motors. As for the other two I don't know. Tried to search the Forest Service on-line pages. Found informational info but nothing official.
Good fishing,

John,
I refered to Small Georgia Lakes Open to the Public (available free by calling 770 918 6418).

Dockery Lake is seasonal. There is no information on boating and I could not get a definitive answer. The answer I did get was the lake was small and electric motors were NOT allowed, but you should call DNR Law Enforcement at 770 535 5499 for conformation.

Rock Creek is seasonal. Boat motors may use electric motors only.

Lake Winfield Scott is open year round. Boat motors may use electric motors only.

Dockery Lake is VERY SMALL...as a matter of fact you can almost cast bank-to-bank from any point...however it is a very nice place to fish after a stocking and it has one of the best kept campgrounds in the area.

Thanks for all the info, guys. I am looking forward to breaking out the fly rod and starting the season off right. I am going b****fishing today, so I might take the fly rod to get in a little practice before I go trout fishing.
I am going to order the "Small Georgia Lakes Open to the Public" publication that you talked about, Bill. That will be very handy.
Thanks again and good fishin'
