I think the hooch is stocked at the 41 bridge..yes? Is there stocking at Palisades and particularly at Thornton Shoals and Long Island Shoals. If so..how many times per year?

hello Karen. The DNR has a site . You can get the URL by using the ' search" here on the board to find it. The Hooch is stocked many , MANY, times a year , but I'm not sure at what points and such. The river below Morgan Falls Dam is stocked with 50,000 brown trout and 50,000 rainbow trout annually. These fish were stocked this past winter at between 3 and 5 inches and are between 6 and 7 inches now. I noticed large numbers at Morgan Falls Dam last week.

Stocking sites in the lower river should not really important to anglers. We stock trout as 3" fingerlings once a year and they move before they are large enough to fish for.

We have six primary sites. They are:
Morgan Falls boat ramp
Johnson Ferry boat ramp
Cochran Shoals (upstream from I 285 N)
Akers Mill (behind the water wheel occasionally stocked)
White Water Creek
Paces Mill (Hwy 41)

let me add, the Chattahoochee River between above Morgan Falls and Buford Dam is stocked weekly at more than 15 locations. Stocking sites get from 300 to 800 fish per week. We'll be stocking about 7,800 fish each week thru September.

When these fingerling were stocked in the fall, were they all browns? I recently fished the lower section and trout were rising everywhere,and I caught quite a few, but every single one was a brown around 6-8".

Just wondering if rainbows will be stocked later if this is the case.

The next trout will be stocked in the fall. Rainbow and Brown trout were stocked last winter/fall. I caught some 6-8" brown and rainbow trout below Morgan Falls dam about 4 weeks ago.
