wondering about size !

I was wondering what determines the size of insects emerging from a gven creek. Caddis for example.??!?!?
Are #14's and #12's the same exact " bug " or are they different " strains " so to speak?

Owl, I haven't checked in in a while. My apologies for the delay.

I'm not a bug expert, but I think species present dictates the size of insects in a stream. The species present is probably influenced by the fertility of the water, but again, I'm not sure. I haven't been fishing enough to catch any trout, much less Walleye. I don't expect many to be caught and was shocked to get that one.
