I have heard that portions of the chatooga will be under delayed harvest regulations next year. Is there ant truth to this?

There was a report from the meeting a couple of weeks ago on this board. This is a quote from the list
"DH streams to be added next are the Chattooga River from Hwy. 28 bridge to the canoe takeout (1 mile) & approximately 3 miles on Amicalola Creek (which would be a walk-in or float trip fishery."
The thread was about the meeting they had concerning this subject

This month's Georgia Outdoor News mentions the Amicalola Creek part, but not the Chattooga. I wonder if it was just a misprint. Bill, if you check out this thread, here's a question. Would a DH regulation and support of the stocking program also be coordinated with South Carolina? I know they have a good brown trout production facility at Wahalla.

crash,
Thanks for rattling my cage. I had not heard anything and assumed the Chattooga was still on for DH this fall. It is not! Lee Keefer (Fisheries Biologist working with DH in north Georgia) provided the following:
Bill, the Chattooga has been postponed till next year due to the need of SC
to post the proposed reg before their legislature for 90 days prior to
approval. They did not have enough time to do that this year. Apparently
the rule changed recently from 30 days to 90 days and they were unaware of
the change. The Amicalola is still set to go to a public hearing, sometime
this month. LK
Hope this helps,
Bill
So, all the poachers will be there and not at Smith's ? I am assuming that there will not be a check - in point for the Am.
Bill, I heard that this fall, Smith's will only recieve REGULAR sized trout. Can you confirm this at this time?
Thanks.
