Has anyone been fishing there recently? I was pondering a trip to the area this Saturday. What kind of bugs have they been biting?

Feel free to E-mail me:

I was there on Sunday. It was miserably hot. Nobody was catching anything except the corn chuckers. I have to say I was only there 1 hour. I asked in the parking lot and the responce was the same. A few small fish, but not much luck.

I was there Saturday evening during the severe thunderstorm warnings. It was Africa-hot and the water was very murky. Didn't see or catch anything. The corn guys on the ramp didn't have any better luck. -Y2J

You all need to switch over to shoal b****for the next month or so. The trout are really getting stressed and inactive from the heat, but the hotter it gets, the better the shoal b****fishing gets.

Hi gang! Long time lurker, occassional fly fling attendee here. Dries or bead heads for the Hooch during these dog days?

Had a good time on the Hiawassee and Fires Creek in NC this week. Fished with Upper Hi Fly Outfitters. Used Hendrickson's, Blue Duns, and Elk Hair Caddis' to catch 'em & learned a few techniques like dabbing and hauling in tight spots.

Hey Hooker, tell me more about these Shoal Bass! Do I need a float tube, or can I wade, I do not have a tube! I hope I can catch them on flies!

Thanx,

I concur with hooker....but for the next couple of weeks the *****down to settles is worth a shot.

Wed. I went to IF and the fish didn't come on until about 7:30...I got there at 4:30 and took maybe two up until the peak time...then the fishing was OK but nothing to right home about.

Last night fished the *****(because of the early release schedule...you know, I usually bitch about how could the water is up there, but last night it was refreshing--by 7pm it was down right cold) We caught fish and had action very consistly from 5 til we left at 9:15--numb toes the only wear for worse.

It was neat fishing up there for a change of pace...I enjoyed putting on a show for the eager on-lookers along the park-side bank. Everytime someone stoped to see "brad pitt," I'd hook a fish. Couple of times they agonized with me when I missed a fish (more like the stockers missed my flies). Couple browns with good color in the 12" range...most were clearly recent stockers but with full bellies and wide eyes.

Fishing was best when the fog rolled in--it rolled in and out 3 or 4 times. My friend and I used grhe exclusively...caught all my fish on the same well-tied fly....so it goes.

It wasn't my best day at the ****, number-wise, but the scenery and company puts it right up there. Several gorgeous women stopped to talk as I fished. Being married, I ignored them as they went on about how beautiful ff is (Sorry metal heads and meat and corn chunkers--chicks dig the guys with longer sticks).

Rod, I was at the Dam last night as well, sorry I missed you. I think I will head out again tonight. Will you be there? Let me know, I would welcome the opportunity to meet and fish with you.

Thanx for the E-mail Hook! http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif

But now that I've discovered cold water, nice temps, and willing trout, I may just stay in that area, and escape the retched heat!

To the hills! Onward and upward!
