From the looks of it, getting a canoe out at Hwy 20 would be a bear. We got out on the right side of Settles, just before the bridge. The left side looked flatter and more accessible. Does anyone know if a car can get anywhere close to that point - or any other suggestions. -thanks.

The takeout point on the left side is the easiest. You can get there off Johnson Rd. I think that is the name.

Yo, Fletch,

Yes, you can park right near the bridge. To drive there, take Hwy 20 (going west) from Buford to Swanee Dam Rd at the Publix and MickeeD's shopping center. Turn left (South). Go about a mile to Johnson Rd. You can't see the sign with all the construction, but the road is marked with white fences on both sides of the road. Turn right on Johnson which ends at Settles Bridge Rd. Turn right on Settles and go to the end. You'll see construction equipment as they are installing a large drainage line. Park and look for the trail at the 11:00 position as you drove in.

Loren,
I thought the would tow ya if you parked there...I stopped fishing there 'cause the other side is too much of a pain....do you float there?

Rod,

Float tube's shot, so I wade or fish from the rocks. I like Settles, but don't catch much there. It beats the dam. I can't stand the dam (for no good reason).

As far as towing cars, I haven't heard that. A lot of people drop off cars there and park there for fishing. Right now. the construction co. has a security guard there and he could care less about parking there.

Cool, I'd like to fish it with you sometime...and I still haven't gotten you to IF. We should wait for cooler weather to do that...water is consistantly 64 down there...
