Jones Bridge, and Island Ford!
What are the flies to use in late August/early September? What sizes do the trout prefer?
What have you all had luck on recently?
Thanks for a reply,
Blake
Phlyster,
I mostly fish the Hooch in the IF & JB areas and can make the following recommendations. Please keep in mind that I have a limited knowledge of entomology, limited resources, not enough skill. These flies have been very productive for me.
DRY - #14 - #18 tan Elk hair caddis - I usually have 2-3 of each size. Black ant in sizes #12-#16. Griffiths Gnat in #18-#22. Royal Wulff size #12-#14 either to prospect or mostly as the dry above the dropper.
NYMPH - gold ribbed hares ear, pheasant tail & prince nymphs - ALL with bead heads, all size #14-#18. Day in day out this is the way to go.
Other - Woolly boogers, black & olive with bead heads or cone heads, size #8 - #14. Use the larger sizes in about a month when the browns start to spawn.
This pretty well describes my minimalist flybox, I only have one and it is 8"x4", but it works for me..
Did you ever notice that "lurk" rhymes with "work"....RScott
