high bacteria levels??

I went to the Island Ford unit today 12/27 to buy a new parking pass and they told me that there is a warning about high bacteria levels in the river and they (the rangers) were recommending that people stay out of the water.

There were no signs posted and I saw 4 guys coming out of the river after FF so I am somewhat confused. I assume that the rangers were telling me the truth. They said that there is a lot of runoff from Suwanee creek that is polluted.

Is there someplace (web site or phone) that one can find out if there is a problem before going into the river?

Wheeeoooo! I guess I'll refrain from holding my tippet with my lips in the DH section. That's enough to deter poaching, I'd think!

Thanks 3sticks, Good web site... this is really too bad, I hate seeing data like this... anyone have any trend data on E coli in the river? I might have to incorporate this data feed into the hoochcam page.
