View Full Version : Just a note of recent success
Since this board is all about sharing, I thought I would let you know that I fished the Whitewater access Monday, and after limited success fishing Prince Nymphs and Wooly Buggers, I tied on a Griffiths Gnat. Although there was no apparent hatch, and only very infrequent top feeding, I caught three fish on my first three drifts through one of the pools. I continued to have good success for the remaining hour or so that I fished before the wind and rain, and impending traffic, sent me to my truck. I've heard everyone talking about nymph fishing lately, just thought I would offer an alternative.

Thanks Kelley for the info. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif It sounds like you had a good day on the DH. The G gnats have been working pretty good below the Dam also.
Would you gentlemen mind sharing the size of fly?
Rod
I tie them myself, but I have a poor memory. They are either 20 or 22 size. I would even go smaller, but my eyes are bad, and I can't see them on the water. I also have good luck on the Hiawassee with a larger version of this fly (18+). I think all the fish see are the legs (hackle) and the magical color of peacock hearl (the best fly tying material ever). Hope you give them a try and catch a bunch.
