Who from this board has been selected to compete in the Masters Competion? Just curious how many got in from Georgia and who the teams are.

Hi Scott, I am not in the competition for obvious reasons, but are you going to be at Carters Saturday night?

There is a thread in Gen Info, page 2, dated 7/22/03 titled : "?" by chuckwagon about the "mad" and the "glad" that were accepted or rejected for the Masters. Looks like RocketRoy and a teammate; Chuckwagon and his brother; Sandfly and Flyfishingdawg made it in -and I see from the list at oln that Carl Warmouth and Kent Edmonds made it in.

Scott,Ole Man, Et. Al. More than real proud to be selected: As "Team Cracker!"..... for the Southeastern regional! I posted earlier in response to another NGTO members question, and am only adding this for earned name recognition of my Fly-Tier partner Tim " Mountainman " Ivey...... a fellow TU Foothills chapter pal! We are going up against some stiff local competition ,in the form of several guide-type teams, from nearby, but will let them name themselves, since the question was "How many NGTO members were accepted?" Also,Since my youthful attempt to play major league baseball was cut short by a lack of talent, I plan on maintaining my amatuer status, by casting like one...... cause if they allow "Team Cracker" to reach the water work...... THEY ARE IN BIIIIIIIIIG TROUBLE! Rocketroy of Clarkesville

For what it's worth, the organizers told me that the local "pros" almost never win these things. Reason being they "know" they can catch one just a little bit bigger than the one they have in the net. As a result, they often end up without a measurable fish or, at the least, a fish smaller than one they may have caught earlier in the day. I can see this happening.

Jimmy,
That sounds about right. As fishermen we are all eternal optimists...the next fish...the next time...the next trip...
Heck, it keeps me going back. In fact I can't wait untill the next............
Funniest thing about the Masters as it relates to being held in Georgia is that what you have to do to qualify you can’t do on our trout streams. I guess it will really test which of our anglers have both skill sets. Casting and stealth fishing.
