What is everyone's opinion about using a perfection knot as a simple way to change leaders rather than the nail not? I went out last week to a local lake after setting up my leader with a perfection knot and it seemed to cast really well. I'm going to try it out on the Hootch this weekend to see how it works. What do the experts say? http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

That is the only way I'll do it.

Daniel,
I am not an expert by any means but I think that the perfection loop is an excellent way to attach/change the leader to fly line. Many new leaders such as Orvis, Climax and RIO come with the perfection loop already tied into the butt of the leader.

Be advised there is a correct method for making the loop to loop connection that will affect the strength of the connection as well as the turn over of your leader and fly. Here's a link that will better demonstrate the correct loop to loop than I can describe.

I hope this helps you out amigo!

Appreciate that Delta. That is the best illustration I have seen on how to connect the loops.

Delta hit it but I will add that if you use a drop of Zap a Gap on the nail knot at the leader it will keep your floating line floating http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif
