This is why I live by my one size fits all policy. "All bees & hornets die."

While cleaning out from under my deck today I turned over the wrong flower pot.

Zapped right between the eyes. I do look a little younger with less wrinkles but a little fatter in the face. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

Looks like a Serial Killer for sure-- http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif Eric, sorry you got nailed in a bad place. You had a pretty heavy reaction. You may be one of those folks that should carry the antidote injection kit. I've know a couple of people that had relatives die from stings around the face and neck (throat swelled shut)and also read about a flyfisher that died in the Smokies couple of years back when he stepped out of the stream into a yellow-jacket nest. --hope you heal up soon.

Yeah I think I do need to carry the injection kit Ole Man. I got hit twice one between the eyes and one on the leg. The one on the leg was no problem. The head shot made my breathing hard and I felt like I just chugged a quart of tequila.

I wonder if you have to have a prescription for one of those injection kits?

Just more to carry in the vest or float tube. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

Come on Skibum post a pic. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

I don't think a prescription is needed, Erik!

Dude - Talk to you doctor.

I pushed the mower over two YJ ground nests a couple weeks ago. Got nailed about 10 times, but I've never had a minute's problem with them in the past, so I kept mowing.

Well, that was then! I had no respiratory trouble (which, BTW, is SERIOUS), but the sting sites hurt for 24 hrs and the swelling was impressive for a week. I guess I've used up all my good fortune with bees, wasps and hornets.

WalMart has a good deal on generic Benadryl - 100 capsules for about $5. I feel your pain.

Its been almost 24 hrs. since I was injected by the mother of all hornets.

The swelling has slightly increased turning my eye openings to upturned slits towards the side of my head where my ears once were. Im able see objects in a multi demensional veiw and I can almost see a 360 veiw.

Two small nubs have started to appear on the top side of my head where my hairline is receding.

I have to get off now. Trying to type on 27 keyboards and looking at 27 monitors is making me dizzy.

Fishing is safer

Bill, I think The Owl might dispute fishing being safer. I seem to remember a photo of him after rolling down a mountainside to escape a swarm of yellow jackets.... He looked like he'd been rode hard and put up wet!

Well Ghost,

Take your sweet revenge vicariously today good man...
This evening, while the wife and I were planting stuff in our yard, I stuck the shovel right into a YJ nest and lifted - bad idea. Luckily we and the dog made it into the house w/ no stings (miracle) and I went for the super value 2-pack of RAID wasp/hornet killer. After donning the long sleeves, gloves, long pants and the "stupid" head-net I bought for Alaska 2 yrs ago and had never used, I walked outside, announced that they were all going to die and there was nothing they could do about it, than totally wiped them out. And the whole time I was thinking how much you would have enjoyed it.

Hope you're feeling better.

Later on

Ghost,
I feel your pain and in your honor I went down by the creek behind my house just after dark last night and poured $.50 worth of Quick Trip 87 octane down a Yellow Jacket hole and murdered proubably 500 Yellow Jackets http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif.But i`m saving the Big one for PETA,,proubably a 6in. hole with several thousand in it, just incase they would like to come over and make "Friends". Heck, i`ll even invite the little guy`s out for them http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif.
