I've got a date next weekend and I haven't been keeping up with current movies since we finished up the shop, as I haven't been on a date in a couple months. What are some good ones that will be out by next Saturday, the 11th?

Got a date? Wait a minute Josh, shouldn't you be focused on fly-tying and getting your gear ready to fish the next morning? http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/biggrin.gif

Seriously stay away from these flicks:
Anacondas (too many snakes)
Hero (too much violence)
Princess Diaries 2 (not unless she's under 10) http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif
Without a Paddle(sounds like a bad float trip)
Wicker Park (Josh Hartnett might be hotter than Josh Barnett) http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/biggrin.gif
Vanity Fair (if you're going to see a movie named after a magazine go see Field & Stream instead)
The Cookout (sounds like Brent firing up some chili)

Resident Evil: Apocalypse (never saw the first one)
Yes Nurse! No Nurse! (sounds a little kinky if you ask me) http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif

Some recommendations:
Collateral is good (but rated R)
The Bourne Supremacy (again the women say Matt Damon is a hottie) but the movie has great reviews

Good luck, and don't let her distract from your fly-tying & fishing (at least until you're married like us ole fogies!)

Josh just grab a old picnic blanket then run her by Krystals and get a sack full of burgers and fries then head to the river. She can watch you fish while she eats.

Its cheaper and your not stuck watching some boring movie.

She can fish with you or you can teach her to fly fish if need be.

I should have my own column on the board. Ask me another question. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

Oh, no! I told you, Josh, stay away from dates. It will ruin your trout fishing! Back Porch Fly Fishing will become defunct!

Josh: Don’t listen to B Kar Ma…..I’m afraid to tell you that your newly acquired affliction will have you distracted like a Bow to a lightening bug. As you get older the affliction only gets stronger and you’re distracted by a wider age range of flies….. Movies are good until you get to know each other….they don’t require a lot of conversation. I would suggest a rental movie (The Bourne Identity) followed by a go to a theater date to see The Bourne Supremacy if the first date goes well. She can look at Mat Damon if she doesn’t like the flick. Ludlum Rocks!

"Without A Paddle" is a very funny movie with no attempt to "make a statement" or create a new clothing fad. And you can appear the expert to the young lady by pointing out the various angling errors. However, only offer these corrections after the movie is over. And if you are not familiar with the name 'D.B.Cooper', do a little research before you go. I was very surprised when my 25 year old did know about D.B. Cooper.

Try to get her to pick the movie. Whatever you pick will be wrong. If she picks a movie and it turns out to suck, say nothing. You would still be worng.

Now I see where the 'slick' in 'Slick Trick' comes from.

Yes, by all means get her to pick the movie. And even (especially?) if it takes hours to coax a selection out of her, she'll be convinced that you are a marvelous conversationalist, sensitive, caring, and a good listener. Try not to let it drive you nuts.

SlckTrck/Bob M That's good advice. One thing you might add. Look for a CHICK FLICK . There's a reason they call 'em that. The women love 'em.

Ditto the chick flick, Josh. Go for Princess Diaries 2, despite what's been said here.

Haven't seen it myself, but the kids have and liked it. I bet she will, too.

If mom and dad haven't met her, have her over to the house instead. Keeps you out of trouble, earns points with mom, and lets you know real quick if you're going to have a problem on future dates.

Josh, take your money and throw it in the street. Go fishing, stay single till you're 35, and then do the deed for life.

Yes, mom and dad both know her. We have been good friends since we were quite young, and have been dating for quite a while now, I just haven't been keeping up with movies and such lately.

Thanks for all the advice on what movies to see... we may just go for a scary movie!
