Hello NGTOers,
The name Chattoogaangler is in reference to the upper reaches, so you're talkin' to a NC boy. Born and raised in WNC, I recently moved within spitting distance of GA and about 10 minutes from the Chattooga on Hwy 28. It is far and away my favorite trout stream and I consider it my home water. I love those big, wild browns that haunt the slow pools and the upper reaches is where I cut my fly-fishing teeth. I guided part-time for several seasons until I got married and had kids. Insurance got to be an issue and I decided to give it up. About that same time, I had my first experience with smallmouth bass on the fly and have since become a complete fanatic. I recently fished the Flint for shoal bass and have found them to be as equally as addictive. Some of you may know me from Georgia River Fishing.
When the weather cools and the bass fishing slows, you'll find me stomping around the Chattooga somewhere. Don't tie much for trout, not an entomologist. But I do tie some nymphs and streamers that work pretty well. I do tie most of my smallmouth flies just because it's impossible to find them where I live, outside of mail order.
Looks like you have an active, informative board and I look foward to getting some ideas for my GA fishing pursuits.
Fish on!
