This is posted real early so that you guys can atleast attempt to schedule it in your calendars.
The Tailwater TU will be having their workday at Smith Creek on Saturday, 16 April 2005. Yep, that's after tax day so you can't use that for an excuse. As usual, food will be provided. I will be posting more information when we get the work plan finalized with Lee Keefer. I've attached some photos to show you the type of work that we have done in the past years. One thing on this years agenda is benches at the parking lot in order to change waders, etc.

Are there pics somewhere here? I'm pretty new still with this new bb....
I'll spread the word over at OBR too. Since the bb remake we only number about 35 members now, but I'll give it a shot.

dream on, ee. :)
you'll never catch me. :)
Unfortunately, back in November before this notice was posted, a request was made by the City of Roswell for a hard date for the NGTO KFD so that they could put it into their calender of events. We chose April 16th because we had always had the KFD's around that date.
I was disappointed to see TU and NGTO had scheduled projects on the same day but it has happened before.
Typically, I don't respond to a post unless I can participate.
Now. At the BOD meeting the other night, two of the BOD folks who are TU members told me that this project was NOT on the 16th and in conflict with our KFD but was actually on the 9th. I was very excited about this turn of events if it was indeed true because I have tried to make the work projects when I could. Would somebody verify the true date for this event for me.
Bill,
Yes, the Smith cr. workday is on the 16th, sorry you won`t be able to make it!

Jeff,
sorry about the pics but they execeed the limit size. You know them though, they are in front of the intern's cabin, at the treatment curve (below Skull hole), gabian boxes and breaks above the curve hole, and of course, the infamous flow restrictor beyond the confidence hole.
We also took apart that Beaver **** a couple of years ago. He sure was ticked off about that! :yikes:

If I remember correctly, either right before or right after the beaver dam was destroyed down in the bend..........a large pool was created upstream by the cabins. I hated to see that long beaver-pool go. Anything #20 -#22 would get alot of attention in that pool. I guess that beaver has moved on now.

Scince Smith's is in my backyard I'll do the workday and miss the KFD. If I can get a few more we'll be well represented at both. I fish smith's so much I need to give back. No guilt just fact.

I was up there Sunday( plenty of fish, bring eggs), and I noticed that they've put up a climbing wall thingy. Pretty cool. Also noticed they've put in a really nice field-goal for the local high school students to practice thier kicking! I have to say though, that I like the traditional yellow field-goals better than that new fangled black steel and 2X4 model they picked out! :)

A llttle more information. Please arrive at the parking area at 0830 hours. Mention you are there for TU work project and they should give you a free pass. Work will include installing three benches at the parking lot and repairing structures on the rivers due to the hurricane damage. Lunch will be provided by the Tailwater Chapter of TU.
Don't forget your rods, this may be a good time to get one on one lessons on the creek from some of the best.

If we're fishing, I guess we'll need to check-in and get a permit to fish before hand then right? If I'm thinkin' straight (miracles happen ;) ) it's still dh.

Creek parking lot. Bring your waders and some work gloves. All other equipment should be there. And yes Owl, you are thinking correctly. I will be up there fishing on Friday so if someone needs some other tips. Skull Hole, Kiddy Hole, Tube Hole, Confidence Hole, Kefer Hole will all be explored on Friday.

Jack, Julia, Dave and I had a great time! Thanks to all of the folks who worked so hard - the NGTO folks I remember seeing... Huntfish (of course), duane, fishnpreacher, and The Endless Enigma. There may have been others... if you were there, give a hoot out!
There was plenty of help - it was great to see all of those strong able bodied men doing a great job so that I could catch a fish in the afternoon.
Iwould also like to thank everyone who showed up to help out, good turnout and we got lots of work done. A special thank you to Chuckwagon who donated the benches for the parking lot, great job !
I was supposed to go on a float trip on the Hooch today with Chris, but got cancelled due to the release, so I went to Smiths to fish and enjoy some of the fruits of our labor. 21 rainbows and 2 browns, it was a great day!
Thanks again to everyone!

Enjoyed meeting you guys and gurl, and proud of the work we got done. Streambanks look better and better access to some good looking waters.
Fished the Hooch in Helen Sat afternoon and caught 6 or 8, all bright colored and strong, 13-14in fish. DNR is doing a super job on stockers this year. Thanks all who helped Sat and thanks DNR for your work.

I would like to thank everyone who came out to help at the work day. We ended up with a total of 19 volunteers form NGTO and TU. There are alot of crossovers between the groups and it was nice to see everyone working together. TEE and FishnPreacher, it was nice to meet y'all.
I would really like to thank Chuckwagon for his donation. Not only did he donate the wood for the benches, but he also put them together. Now everyone can sit down and dress in style while at Smiths. Thanks Again.
Already planning next year. It will be the first Saturday after Tax Day. Got that Don? :D

That'll give me a good excuse to go fishin.
Again thank you all who showed up to give back a little of what we take so much of!

I had "issues" that kept me from being there, personal stuff. etc. etc. One day I'll learn not to plan anything.
Vacation in boone was horrible. Back at work now and it's smothering me. No time for anything anymore. 14 -16 hours for the company, 2 for me. Anyway, enough of my whining. maybe I'll make something this year.
