Catch Cormier

I'll be in Atlanta this coming week on business, and arriving early Sat am to do some fly fishing this weekend. It looks like the Hooch is suffering from off-color water, although I'll probably give it a shot anyway. Does anyone else have recommendations? Will drive to catch trout!
PS... I'd be just as happy with numbers as opposed to size, since I'll be bringing a 2wt. :)

Rock Creek near the hatchery in Fannin County fishes well in the rain and even in a total down pour. Smith's creek is good to fish in the rain. It is in Helen at Unicoi state park. Smith's is a DH stream so it is all catch and release thsi time of year. Rock Creek is year round so if your looking for dinner, go there. You can look on Georgia DNR website for maps and directions.
Hint about Rock Creek: Get off the main road and get away from the easy access places. You will be surprised by the number and size of the fish in the remote areas. I love this place. Your 2wt will do the trick.

You might try the Hooch right below Buford Dam, as it usually stays pretty clear regardless of rainfall. With the rain we're getting, everything more than a mile or two downstream will likely be unfishable, IMO. I think the rain's supposed to keep coming until Saturday morning, so the mountain streams will probably be blown out as well.

Catch,
If you try to fish justbelow Buford Dam, if the park is even open after the bomb scare, make sure to wear a PFD, it's the law. Also, you might want to wear cleated boots or fish in a tube, if you happen to have one with you. It's very slick up there.
Give Unicoi Oufitters a call to see what is fishable in the mountains this weekend.
