The time has come...I've recently acquired a new means of transportation, and it is now time to sell my much beloved GMC Jimmy. Details and pics below.
1995 GMC Jimmy SLS - 4 Door SUV
4.3 V6 Vortec
185,000 miles
4 speed automatic
Power windows, locks, seat, mirrors
Cruise
Jensen AM/FM, CD, & Tape player (with remote)
Interior is in okay shape, but worn due to 185,000 miles of driving (which included plenty of hunting and fishing).
$3500 or best offer.
New within the last 18 months:
New (slightly used) GM motor in September 2004 with only 7,000 miles on it. Motor is still under 12month/12k mile warranty. This includes new block, ALL internal components (crank, rods, pistons, etc), new head, intake manifold, and water pump.
New Heater Core, October 2004
New passenger and driver side-view mirrows in September 2004
New catalytic converter, connector pipe, flowmaster 3-chamber muffler, and tail pipe in April 2004
New tires in November 2003 (still have better than 50% tread)
New upper and lower ball joints in August 2003
I bought this truck in December 1999 with 59,000 miles on it. I am the second owner. It has never been wrecked (minus one slight bend in the front bumper at the Walmart parking lot - since repaired). Of the 126,000 miles I have put on it, 90% of them are highway miles due to work. In September of this year the motor finally went. The one in there now is from a Chevy Blazer that was totaled out with only 1,000 miles on it. Both the motor and the labor are still under a 12 month/12,000mile warranty from the mechanic that installed the motor. This is why I listed it as New (slightly used).
This truck still runs very strong (especially with the new motor). I drive it 100 miles every day to work without any problem, but have bought something a bit more economical to start driving. Can't afford to have two vehicles sitting around, so I have to part with the Jimmy. It will definitely make someone a great daily driver.
It does have a few things that need repair (or not, doesn't affect the mechanical ability of the truck at all). These things are:
Driver side window needs a bit of a push to get it to go down. The gear is old and needs replacing to work properly.
Passenger front door lock doesn't work with the keyless entry or the power door lock, but does manually work.
Rear window wiper needs replacing. Gear is stripped. Starts to go and then stops.
Flashers don't work. The switch broke off 3 years ago while driving. It cost $450 to replace that component so I just soldered in place. In doing so, it prevents the front window washers from working. Wipers work fine, just won't wash.
Dash has a few cracks in it from replacing the heater core.
Both front seats have a spot where the stiching is coming undone. Also, both seat lumbar knobs have been taken off due to cracking.
Driver side door compartment has been off since I owned the truck. Don't have a replacement.
All in all, this truck is in good shape with a whole lot of life left in it.
Truck is located in Winder, GA until Christmas. Then will be in Clarkesville, GA after that for a few weeks.
