Just a reminder for those who might be interested. This is usually a very good show, much better than the Atlanta show, IMO. Its a great opportunity to see many of the blanks and rod components that we may not otherwise get to see up close until we buy them.

Danny, I'll prolly be going to this show. If I'm down in ATL you can ride with me if you'd like.

Rusty, I appreciate the offer, but I'll probably drive up myself. I'll probably see you there.

I'll second that! It is a huge show and well worth the $20 -two day pass. ( A single day will cost you $12 I think).
Ya know though, I was at the Atlanta show last year, sneaking around in kogneeeto :), and it's getting better every year.
If they'd just get rid of the boats and get more rod building and flytying stuff going on, I think it'd be perfect! But, I'm sure there are folks who enjoy seein' the fancy new flats boats too.
If you have to go to just one though, I'd have to pick Char.

You're right, Owl. IMO, the Show here in Atlanta continues to grow into something more spectacular every year. We consistently gain new faces, with even more to teach, and can still hold some of the most well know anglers, fly tiers, and rod builders in the world. It's a great mix of men and women, who know their stuff.
I just wish they would hold the ATL and Charlotte Shows on seperate weekends this year. I would've loved to be at both, but make commitments for ATL way in advance each year.

Uh oh.
Thanks for the heads up, Josh. I didn't know they were on the same weekend!? I bet there will be some folks who will stay for the Atlanta show, but I know a few who go to the Char. show every year, and it'll be hard to pry them away from it. That's too bad.
Maybe NGTO could have a booth at both shows. :)

I'm with Josh on this... It sure would be nice if the shows were held on different weekends. I went to the Atlanta show last year and enjoyed it. Going to the Charlotte show this year.

What would be great, is if we could all fly out to shows like the Danburry, St. Louis and others like that. It has a lot to do with our location.
I just can't believe they scheduled the two greatest outdoor shows in the Southeast on the same weekend. Usually they are at least one weekend apart. Oh well.
See all who plan to make it to ATL this year. It's going to be a blast. By my calculations, this is probably going to be the best show yet!!!
Head over to www.castlow.com. Find Atlanta Show. Go down to Order PreShow Program, and send Mary an e-mail with nyour address. The Program outlines all the presentors, tiers, and seminarist.

A couple of friends and I spent the weekend at the Charlotte show and were really impressed with the number and quality of exhibitors. Lots of places to buy tying supplies and fishing gear, as well as FF related art and such. One of the coolest things we saw was a lady who makes jewelry from caddis cases- ( www.wildscape.com ). She had a tank set up with caddis in leaf and stone cases and was very willing to answer questions about them. Basically, she raises caddis larva and puts gemstones in the tank and the caddis make thier cases out of them, which she then turns into jewlery. When the caddis hatch, they just fly out the window.
There were lots of tyers, including Bill Skilton and Harrison Steeves, which was a thrill to me since I like to tie with foam. These guys are incredibly innovative and were very nice and willing to share their secrets (and flies). The rod builder's section was packed, and there were lots of nice components, especially reel seats, to be had.
Right next door was the Log Home and Timber-framer's show, and it was only $5 for folks who had been to the FF Show, so we went there Sun. afternoon. Very interesting and informative, with some very unique furniture for sale. All in all, it was well worth the trip.
