View Full Version : Brahama Hen?
Hi Jimmy:
Saw an article about Brahama Hens as a substitute for Hun. Partridge. Looks good. Do you have any in stock? If not, can you get it? If you can...order one for me.

Hi Noah.
Metrela and I are unfamiliar with Brahama Hen. Can you tell me where you saw the article? We'll see if we can get it for you.

March 2005 issue of "Fly Fisherman" magazine, p. 39. Something Whiting has evidently come out with. Kinda curious about it myself.

I tied the chickabou bugger in this contest with chickabou and soft hackle from a Whiting Brahma Hen Patch. It's awesome stuff, much easier to wrap than Hun Partridge and much stronger quill (less fragile). It's listed in Whiting's catalog as Soft Hackle with Chickabou. I'm betting as this stuff catches on it'll take the place of Partridge on a lot of tiers bench's. click on the link and scroll down to the chic a bugger.

Jimmy... In the order books, you will find it as "Brahma" not "Brahama".

Tom, I didn't know that was your fly. I really like that and would love to see one. Can you bring one to Dreamlands the next time around?
BTW, you got my vote for #1. :)

Thanks Danny!
I'll bring one to the next NGTO function no problem...
Hi Jimmy:
Sorry I didn't give enough information about Whiting's Brahma Hen soft hackle. I would like one each in natural, brown, olive and dun color. I think the price was around $10.00 a skin. When do you think it will be in?
How do I get in touch with John? Have him send me his e-mail address via nfountain@lumpkin.k12.ga.us
Thanks Delta flyer, the info is appreciated...especially about the flexible stems.
Josh, I stand corrected being a teacher and all. :)

Actually I've confused two different products from Whtiting. I have several patches of Whiting Brahma Hen from Virtual Flybox and they are exactly as described. The Soft Hackle with Chickabou is a different product. Sorry for the confusion...

Thanks, Noah. I'll get David to place the order; will let you know how long we can expect before it arrives. Best email to contact John is at info@unicoioutfitters.com. He's not been in this week due to some kind of grunge going around in his family that has them all bed-ridden. Just hope he's well by this weekend.

Your fly is right up there with the best of them in my voting!
Good luck, lots of great competition this go 'round!
BTW, bring one of those flies this weekend. We can make a trade. ;)
