Never been before, so is this an accessory sale or will there be rods, reels and such?
Good prices?

In recent years, it's been more of a clothes/dog bed/ accesories type of thing. First year I went back in , oh i dunno 2000 or so - it was half fishing and half the other stuff. Best advice is go early or late.

Generally speaking the Orvis tent sale at GWCC is a fly fisherman's paradise. As my wife says, it's the only time she sees men patiently shopping and waiting in looooong checkout lines.
Get there early, before the doors open if possible. Last time I arrived at 8:40 on opening day...and found a good size crowd ahead of me (but nobody wearing NGTO hats...)
The tent sale usually carries a wealth of waders, boots, rods, reels, flies, fly tying kit, line, leaders, tippet, rain jackets, etc. etc. etc. Plus LOTS of clothing, all at very good prices for new or demonstration gear (and is often stamped as such, like my large arbor reel.)
One important caveat: the tent sale fly rods might not carry the traditional Orvis warranty for repair / replacement (I recall discussion on this a few months ago on the board and apparently the rods are stamped TENT SALE.)
All that said, and because it's a tent sale, the products being offered may be very seasonal (as in last season or even two). Went to one a while back and it was women's clothing and furnishings; no fishing gear. Harrumph....

Trout8MyFly: You had me confused for a minute. I thought GWCC was the Georgia World Congress Center downtown. I thought maybe Orvis had a few more returns this year than in the past! :yikes: :rotfl:

If so, I'm thinking video card???

Owl,
I believe the "VCard" you are referring to is a virtual Business Card. It's a way to swap contact information with a friend via your Outlook contact database.

Yikes! I think I dug that acronym from a failing memory cell...you're right, GWCC is the Ga. World Congress Center (where I've done more than a few shows with various companies). Guess Gwinnett Center would simply be GC.
I've always heard that memory is the second thing to go. I can't recall what's first.

Oh man. I didn't mean to make anyone say the "b" word! (business! :) ).
I get it now....silly me.
wotk, I was taking a peek at your profile to see if you worked for Orvis ;), and it's on the upper left hand side of the profile page. I guess if I'm gonna fit in around here, I gotta get up on all the new gadgets! :)
Thanks Wknot!

I went last year and picked up a nice small reel, a renzeti (sp?) rotary vise ($75), + some other small stuff (leaders, dubbing, etc..)
The best advise is to get there early, I was ther before the doors opened and ther was still a line. Get what you want and get out.
