Well, today Bob Shumaker is retiring! After almost 20 years on staff, the Sarge has decided to dedicate 100% of his time to his cat, dog, guns, knives, rods, boat, and Wife. Lord help her. We wish him the best and say thanks for all the stories, one-liners, philosophy, smart a** remarks, and fun. Maybe ya'll will run into him up in the hills. Just don't ask him anymore fishing tackle questions....because..... he's retired. -The crew at THE FISH HAWK

Had the pleasure of going out to West Yellowstone w/Sarge on one of the Fish Hawk trips 10 to 15 years ago. (Can't recall the exact year, I think my long term memory is starting to go) Bob was a good guy to be out there with and quite a character. I do have one Sarge story from the trip, but if I shared it on the board, it would probably get deleted. I don't get into the shop as often as I used to, but when I do I always look for Sarge and am disappointed when he's not there. I think he has sold me 4 Sage rods over the years and always shot me straight. Tell him he will be missed.

According to CNN's N. Ga office, a last minute deal was struck during late night talks about the end of Sarges' glorious career. He will be a part time member of The Fish Hawk on Fri. and Sat. Word is his wife begged for the commissioner to allow him to "go and do whatever he does" and save her some sanity.

Sarge is one of my favorite characters at the Fish Hawk sitcom. Glad he's going to be around to respond to my Norm remarks:
It's a dog eat dog world, and I am wearing Milk Bone underwear.
I was afraid he had signed on with Jessco.

Rob, you scared the crap out of me. I'm getting old and my heart can't take that kind of jolt. Sarge if you read this, you've been a huge part of the best fly shop in GA and I among the million others, have appreciated all your help throughout the years. As far as you, Rob, Gary, Robert, retiring is not going to happen for you guys either. Didn't they tell you guys, once you grace the doors at the Fish Hawk you stay there till........well you know when. Guys thanks for all the awesome advise and great moments.
