Hi Metrela, I'm booking a Toccoa float trip with ya'll for April 6 (already spoke to the booking folks) and was wondering if there are cabins/hotels you could recommend?
Most of the cabins I've seen online require two-night stays and we're only looking for a single night.
Thanks!

Metrela can give you the exact name, but the motel just west of Blue Ridge on 515 is inexpensive, clean as a whistle, and the restaurant is very good with an extensive salad bar and the french fries are to die for ............ just don't my wife how I know about those fries!
You'll know you have the right restaurant when you walk in and see more mounted fresh and salt water fish this side of the Smithsonian.

John that place closed down. Too bad, dang good veggies!
George there is a Ramada in Blue Ridge on 515. Probably your best bet.
We'll see you in April!

Thanks for the suggestions John and Metrela...I'll consult with my buddy and see where we land. Maybe we'll stay in Helen at the park and just make an early schlep over the mountains.
Too bad about the closed down motel...would have liked to try those fires!

Metrela: Was the name of that restaurant & motel 'The Fannin Inn'? Just trying to reload the old memory banks.
And for Trout8Fly, you can stay in Helen, but that will put you almost an hour away from Blue Ridge and that depends on weather and your familiarity with the roads. For fishing in Blue Ridge, I would try to stay closer in.
Back to the food, is Toccoa Riverside Restaurant still open? And last culinary question, how is Fannin County and Blue Ridge doing these days on pouring licenses? When I sold my place up there, the county was struggling over three restaurants demanding beer & wine licenses because the county had no ordinance against pouring licenses, and the city quickly passed an ordinance forbidding all pouring of alcohol except on church grounds for wedding receptions. And for those of you who don't know the turf, I am not making that up.

John,
Yep, it was the Fannin Inn.
Toccoa River Restaurant is still open. Its a great place to go for lunch if your fishing the upper.
No pouring license for Fannin yet.
My sister was visiting the other weekend and we tried the new Victoria House restaurant (next to the big marble bank bldg downtown). We both agreed it was one of the finest meals we had ever had. Service was excellent! A bit pricey but was a bargain considering the quality and service.
