I baptized my new 8'0" 4 weght today at Smith's. Pictured is the first trout on this rod. First fish as a matter of fact. Caught on the Woven Caddis Pupa that I tied for the Caddis Swap. Sure hope this rod continues to catch fish in this catagory.

You've done it again. Nice work on that rod. Not a bad fish either. Is that a forecast blank? Also thanks for the help on the sink tip!

Yes, that is the Forecast. In case anyone is wondering, the brownie is fine. Swam off almost as soon as he was back in the water.

Nice rod, really like the color combos. I've always found that old Forecast color tough to work with. Nice fish too. I saw one of your woven pupa and it immediately struck me as a fish catcher. That nice brownie proves it.

Healthy fish caught on a rod you made, fly you tied and most likely leader you tied, that's what it's all about :)

Thanks for the compliments. FYI The thread used on the rod is Sulky 40 Number 942 (Dark Teal). I got it at Hancock Fabrics. It can be a little tricky to work with. It's approx Size A, and it is twisted. I turned down my tension somewhat, and be very carefull when finishing off the tag. Sulky has a vast array of colors, everything from the most subdued to neon. You might want to give it a try. Cost , about $3.50 for 250 yards. Sulky also comes in various metallic colors, probably would be good for trim. GTS, yes, I tied up the leader also.

I've wrapped the main wrap with the Sulky metallic. I like it better than Gudebrod HT for handling. Plus, it adds a lot of choices for color combinations.
