I'm Thinking of getting a new fly rod. I fish tight streams as I know all you do. I was thinking of a 6'6" shaft.
Is this a little too short or would it be OK.
What do you Guys use? Frustration is the bugger of new fly throwers. Or should I say fly casters! What ever the correct term is.

6'6' is not short enough in some cases. I commonly fish a 6' 3wt on small mountain streams, and have recently began using a 5'6" bamboo. While you won't be able to sling #6 wooly boogers, you can roll cast almost anything. Most of your "casting" will be distances of 20 feet or less. Given a 6-6 rod, you're only throwing 3 times the length of the rod. You should do fine with a 6-6, just be aware of its limitations.
;) And its "casting" if you're using dry flies upstream, and chunkin' if you're using weighted boogers, split shot and the like. :p

Especilly if cover is a problem. I agree with Fishenpreacher. Here is a site which has some of the best small stream rods. I've got the lil' streamer rod myself. Lays great and has a wonderful warrenty. Broke my first on trying to pull a fly from a tree and broke it. They replaced it. Now questions asked.
http://www.dorber.com/ They got good litewt reels and other stuff too.
