View Full Version : Thank you NGTO!
The Tailwater Chapter of TU would like to thank the members of NGTO for sponsoring two of the kids for the Trout Camp this year. The two campers, Austin Sims and Abby Smith are really excited about going. They will be introduced at the May 24 Tailwater TU meeting . Jeff Durniak will be speaking about mentoring so it seems fitting to introduce them at that time. Some of the NGTO leaders are going to be there so hopefully we can get some pics to post here.
Once again, Thank you NGTO! Your money is well spent on this endeavor, these kids will have a week of a lifetime.

June 12-17, 2005. I can't wait. It's going to be a great week filled with lots of fun, fishing, catching... and most importantly learning.
I'd like to reittorate what Duane is saying; thanks NGTO, for getting more involved in the restoration of trout water. Remember, today's youngsters are the men and women who will determine the fate of tommorow's trout streams.

Duane, as you know many of the NGTO members are also TU'ers. It is great that both organizations have a common focus, and that is education through mentoring. Thanks for allowing NGTO to participate in such a great outreach to the kids that will one day be in our waders, continuing the mentoring and working to keep our fishery as healthy as possible.
I also want to thank the membership here whose generosity of giving and participating in all of our fund raisers makes this possible for these two kids!
I look forward to meeting Austin Sims and Abby Smith. I just wish I had had this opportunity when I was a kid! :)
See you at the meeting!

Here is what the children should be expecting:
Georgia Council of Trout Unlimited 2005 Trout Camp (http://ucctu.org/Images/TroutCamp.pdf)
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this event; the Georgia Council of Trout Unlimited had apparently been looking to do a major project like this several years back. The Upper Chattahoochee Chapter has sponsored two Youth Clinics every year, however the State Chapter was looking for something bigger. Many months later, the First Annual Trout Camp was in the planning stages. The Camp kicked off in the Summer of 2004. I believe there were 24 attendees to the weeklong events, and each and everyone of those proclaimed their new love of trout fishing and conservation. This year we are expecting even greater things. Unfortunately, last year, I was out of town during the week of the Camp and wasn't able to contribute time. This year I will be there all week. The Camp will take place from June 12 through June 17, 2005. It is sure to be another successful learning experience for all involved.
The money and donations from members of NGTO will be put to good use at this Camp. Expect two new anglers on the stream from now on.

Your pick of the litter for Trout Camp looks spot on! :)
I could tell that Austin and Abby already have a big intrest in trout from watching them during Bills talk as they walked the raceways. I know that will come away from this experiance with new insight and energy for the sport and hobby!
I wish I had had this opportunity at their age! Good going Ga Council TU!
