Tanker Truck

I heard a tank trucker full of diesel crashed into a trout stream outside of Helen. Does anyone know the story and what stream???

Yes, it did. Carrying both gasoline and deisel fuel. Bad thing is it happened at the very headwaters of the Hiawassee River. Good thing is the Forest Service, DNR and EPD (yes, even EPD!) responded unbelievably well in containing it. Everyone put in long hours to insure it didn't do any more damage. It did kill fish and bugs but didn't wipe out all life. While we all hate to see something like this happen, it was impressive to see the coordination between agencies in reacting to a potentially disastrous accident. Even the owner of the trucking company involved in the accident was very cooperative and willing to do anything he could to help. We should all be grateful for the dedicated USFS and state workers who kept the damage to a minimum.

Its also good no big fire got started from that.
