I was wondering if anyone out there knew of somewhere I can get a Bamboo fly rod refurbished. I recently came across 4 pieces of one or more Bamboo fly rods. I have two top pieces, a center piece, and an end piece. I need to have the whole thing refurbished. Also, I believe that it has dried out and was wondering if it has, is it possible to have it refurbished? Please let me know if any of you have any idea of how I can get it repaired.

Thanks,

Dave

There are a lot of questions that need to be answered before you can get a good reply.
What brand is the rod?
Are all the sections straight, eyes intact, no cracks or short sections?
What condition is the seat and grip?
Does it have sentimental value, or are you planning on fishing it?

An old Montegue, South Bend, or some of the old production rods may not be worth hiring a professional restorer to do the job. If the rod is a family heirloom or collectible, it might be worth it to you.
The general condition of the rod will dictate what will have to be done. If all sections are straight, eyes tight, no cracks, then someone can strip and refinish.
Let us know and we'll get you headed down that road that leads to boo territory.

Dead-on. You can buy a ready-to-fish South Bend or Montegue for $100-$200. You may spend $300 or much more on a restoration. It can make sense if you are restoring a Granger that might sell in the $500-$1,1200 range.

Look at eBay and track prices for awhile. Try to avoid the 'bid' option. BTW, be very careful when buying cane rods off eBay.
