I was just setting here day dreaming and thought I would throw out this idea.
I would like to find or help start a club that owned or had access to waters in various areas. Something that would be affordable for the average person and allow the flexibility to fish and have lodging at a variety of locations. Kinda like the time share concept?

Cool idea. I've often wondered about that myself. I've seen through some of the fly fishing magazines a company that does insurance for clubs like this. I've also been hearing about some place that is going to open soon on the Etowah river. I think someone bought up some river front property and is trying to establish a fishery. I'll bet with the resources and knowledge we have on NGTO we could get ourselves a nice slice of water to call our own, and manage it well. A buddy of mine back home belongs to a private club that has 3 mi. of stream on a property and stocks nothing under 18". Club has been around for generations. Imagine if we could somehow create a place here like that. I think that club has 100 members max. and only allows one guest per member one day a year ( immediate family is permitted so long as the member accompanies them). They have two little cabins on the land they built with timber right on the property and one larger lodge house that sleeps a few people. Place is kept up by a caretaker who lives on the property. I've seen this place work and it is a slice of heaven. Sad part is, to become a member, someone has to die and the waiting list goes for miles (immediate family gets the first shot at membership should their family member pass). This place also is at least $10,000/ member a year. Keep chewing on the idea. I'd put in at least $100/month for a place with a bunch of guys. Heck, land leases for hunting are at least $1000/ year in GA. Keep me posted.

Thanks for reply Muddler. I have also seen the private club thing work. I thought that it would be more interesting to have several destinations you could visit.I was thinking along these lines. You set up a small corp or club. Purchase 4 existing homes on or near great water.
Here is some math. 4 homes @ $150k = $600k.
4 homes @ 365 days per yr = 1460 days total. Give each member a 3.5 day trip each month.
1460/3.5= 417 trips a year divide that by 12 months and you have 34-35 members.
$600k @ 7% for 30 years is about 4k a month. 4000.00/34= $117.00 each month. There would be upkeep but do see where i am headed.
holston river, cumberland river, hiawassee, florida keys. I could stand 3 trips a year to such destinations.

You've got my attention. Sounds like you have more than a little knowledge in this area. When it comes to numbers and making money work, I'll admit I'm a little lost, but I'm not afraid to put in a little work for something that is worthwhile to me. I certainly have no problem with physical labor and have some experience working with a general contractor rebuilding houses. Who knows what other skills we'll be able to bring to the table if we get some people motivated. The numbers you're talking about still seem reasonable. Keep plugging.

Hey guys, I would be willing to be a caretaker, working on my degree in fisheries management, just an idea while we're tossing them around
