Hello all,
We just moved to Athens from Central Pennsylvania in July. I fly fish (trout mostly), tie, and carve fish. I was active in TU in PA and have joined the Oconee chapter. We just returned after a 2 week vacation in Montana and are now ready to look for trout in Georgia. Hope this is an appropriate introduction. I usually lurk for a few months to learn the lists flavor before jumping in, but we are talking about something really important here --trout. :)

Glad to have you join us. We are loaded w/former Pennsylvanians; I'm sure they'll chime in soon enough. LOts on Athenians, too. I'm sure you'll hear from them.
GA's delayed harvest season starts Nov. 1, and runs thru May 15th. It is my favorite time to fish - the stocked DH streams offer a refresher course in trout-ology, and they take a major load off the year-round streams. Certain DH streams have some significant holdovers, and the DH section of the Chattahoochee in Atlanta harbors trout, largemouth bass, shoal bass (here's a species that'll remind you of PA's smallmouth!), stripers & carp.
If someone invites you to go after "bream" - the collective name for sunfish/panfish such as bluegills, red ears, long ears, green sunfish, red breast, etc. - take them up on it! :) They grow nicely down here where our water stays soft 12 months a year.
Lots of folks in the Athens/Atlanta area also buy NC out-of-state licenses, too, and avail themselves of some prime water. $40 per 12 months from date of purchase offers pretty fine value to many NGTO'ers.
You may hear from an "Eric" asking ifyou want some homemade scrapple...well, you've been warned!

Hi Ken!
I have met you and your wife twice I believe. Both at the TU Meetings in Athens. We're glad to have y'all down, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Let me know if you want to go bream fishin'!
Ken,
Glad to have you come on aboard and it was good meeting you last night. And thanks for the hand carved Brook trout hat pin that you donated for our Fall Fling. It will be a big hit. You all need to see this one. Come to the Fling to see the great work Ken does.
