Hope you all have been getting out lately to enjoy some good water
and some amazing color up in the Mountians. Just spent 5 days with
Pops fishing the Big Thompson/Lilly lake in RMNP/Arkansas River near Salida/ Frying Pan and Clear Creek.

The Big T hasn't been fishing that well and didn't really have much luck late Thurs. After no luck we hit the majestic Lilly Lake expecting some Greenbacks but no trout were out for the taking late in the day. The Ark was fishing so-so with not that many bugs except for a few PMD'S and no crowds which made it all the better for a day 1/2.

The Frying Pan was on fire taking a bunch on Rusty Spinners near the dam late. The next day started with a 10am BWO hatch, few Trico's and ended the day again with some Caddis. Boy what a blast. Ended the trip on Clear Creek near Dumont (due west from Idaho Springs for Non-Coloradans) with many takers on double dry Stimy's and humpy's.

What's next you ask??
Well this Thurs going to Cheesman, Sat headed to private water with a buddy who runs Shorefox resort -an Orvis endorsed Ranch near Granby in Grand County, than over to the Colorado River that has been fishing well for Baetis.

Next weekend it's a 4 day Trip with the fellas to the San Juan for some explosive Brown fishing; why there's only 80,000 trout in 4 1/2 miles there!!! The following weekend another buddy has a house on the East River (where the Gunnison Starts in Almont) and fishing for a few Kamloops and Spawning Salmon. Will report when I get back on how it was!

Spinney Mtn
The lake is still fishing very well on Callibaetis but you need to
move around to catch fish. Hatches are small so the fish are cruising
now and not staying put. Dark #16 Callibaetis or Pheasant Tails are
good to go as well as olive or black Woolly Buggers. Look for a good
fall season on Spinney.

Stream Conditions: Lake is almost full

Bugs:Callibaetis, Midges, BWOs

Additional Comments: Start to fish streamers now along the south
coves and shorelines. Try Buggers and Larry's Trik R Treat.....
