View Full Version : Duke's Creek 10/16
The UGA fly fishing club headed up to Helen to do some fishing this weekend. Saturday night we camped out at the Hooch WMA. We had to camp at the upper Hooch site because the whole WMA was packed!! Who knew that many people were going to be in the woods? That night we enjoyed a few pitches, some good food, and an ok GA game at Daus Firehouse. Sunday we fished Dukes all day with a pretty good result. We caught quite a few rainbows and a few browns mainly in section 2 and 4. The big fish of the days was caught by Shine Taylor, a 26 in bow. This fish was just crazy big!! Take a look at the pic. if you get a chance. http://www.arches.uga.edu/~shinet/26_inch_Bow.html
Oh, the fish were caught on pink/brown san juan worms, lighting bugs, and soft hackle pheasant tails. The was the first UGA fly fishing club fishing event and it turned out great. The club is no over 30 memebers and we will have our second meeting Oct. 25th and Buffalos. Hope to see some new faces there.

If your ever up in Helen, I highly reccommend Daus Firehouse. Gorgeous waitresses, seductive dancers, and amazing mexican cuisine make it one heck of a place.

Kyle, you should be proud of me for laying off and letting Tim take that one. It took a lot of will power to say anything about wet tennis shoes, weights, or two firehouses/mexican food. I guess I'm getting soft in my old age...

There is only one picture I wish I could have from this weekend is the picture of Kyle in the river at the campsite...

Ben, I appreciate you being so considerate with my harrassing, most of it is called for, I was very prepared to hear some comments from this weekend. I knew it was only a matter of time. Plus, you knew if you said something that karma would come back and throw you into a tree off of your bike the next time, trees are harder than dirt and riverbanks.
