A very nice photo and story!

Twelve-year old Chandler Bodenmuller landed a 7 pound, 4 ounce trophy brown trout on Lake Burton on October 26, 2005. Chandler spent most of the day casting a Rooster Tail toward the big fish. Finally, the big fish grabbed the bait and the tug of war began. After nearly 5-minutes, Chandler landed the exhausted brown. As he heaved the fish onto the shore, the 4 pound test line broke.
The large male brown trout is one of many that reside in Lake Burton. It appeared that the fish was scouting for spawning territory. Browns will migrate into the tributary streams of Lake Burton to spawn during November. So, more trophies are waiting to be caught by persistent anglers like Chandler.

On Sunday, while working at Lake Burton Trout Hatchery, I watched a 6 to 7 pound brown trout under the Moccasin Creek State Park footbridge, cruising underneath thousands of blueback herring that were schooled up. Same fish? Don't know.

I also watched a loon that dove and chased those herring in the clear water in between the two boat docks. It was looked like a scene from the Discovery Channel.

Do you need any more reasons to enjoy the outdoors this weekend?
