honestly i would like to fill everyones head with great stories and regale you with big fish reports.

It was just not to be today.

Water was plenty cool and clear. But, in all honesty, the water was lower than I have seen at any point in my life. caught some dinks. fish were so spooky by the time you were within 100 feet of them ... they were GONE. was hoping for some fall color. looks like if there was a peak it was long since past. everytime a wind blew there were leaves everywhere. Only decent fall foliage i found was up hwy 276 approaching ceasars head state park. magnificent in spots.

as far as the water was concerned,

there were spots in the river that it was barely 15 feet wide due to the low water. three foot known deep holes were one foot deep. but i cant complain

sure beats workin.

caught fish though .... more than some people did i talked to

Luke and I are heading up to the NCDH this weekend.. Im worried about the low water and leaves. Was bad enough a couple weeks ago when I was last up there.. I had a saying "put on a Y2K, catch a leaf"... Atleast it looks like they will recv some rain up there tonight, but just for tonight, so maybe it wont be as low as 2 weeks ago.. But like you saw, it's lower than I have ever fished it.. Dunno how Luke will be able to catch anything in such skinny water ;)

this past weekend and it was the lowest I have ever seen the water. The nice runs under some of bridges were clear as gin and a few feet deep at best. When we fished Friday afternoon into evening the fish were feeding in the film. I was able to take a bunch on my new bamboo rod throwing small caddis emergers. The fish seemed unusually small though. Saturday caught a bunch of fish out of the deeper runs on Y2k's and even a nice 17 incher on a black stonefly. Near the time we had to head out fish started feeding on some small midges and we caught a bunch on a griffiths gnat. All in all we did pretty well, not a great day from NCDH standards, but still enough fish to keep us entertained all day. Again, the average fished seemed well smaller than usual, although we did catch a handful of bigger fish in the 2 days, just not many in the middle. Goodluck and let us know how it goes.
