View Full Version : Tellico reports?
I am originally from Tennessee and I am going to be there for Thanksgiving next weekend. I was wondering if anyone has fished Tellico recently. If so, did it fish well and do you have any fly recommendations?

The last time I went to Tellico was just after the shut down of the hatchery and other state programs due to the retarded tax system there. They want to do that to us in Georgia now. Our beloved governor wants to cut the property tax formulas (a possible large cut in already pitiful teacher's pay) and screw up our fisheries. So send him a letter if you read this unless you want him to cause problems for our hatcheries and WMA's as if Waters creek advocates weren't already upset somewhat about the unmanned station there.
Technically this bill was already voted down once but could very easily reappear on the tail end of something else.
Fishing was good then but I have been told that the locals did a decent job of recognizing the problem and began releasing more fish but I seriously doubt it is in very good shape now unless the hatchery has been re-opened (which I have no idea about).
No fly recommendation. Don't fly fish much.

Tellico and its tribs are fishing well. Low water but still good.
There is a DH section from mouth of the north river down stream a few miles.
Stop at telliqua (sp?) outfitters at the base of the river and get all the details. Fishing has been good for most fishers.

to hear. Did they(Ten) get their hatcheries going full swing again???
Chuckwagon, thanks for the info. I gave Telliquah outfitters a call and they gave me an idea of how areas are fishing and what they have been using.
Spinboy, my dad fishes Tellico in the spring and summer and I am pretty sure it is stocked weekly during the summer. The delayed harvest area is stocked later in the year also.
Again, thanks for the help.
