Was hoping to get there sometime when the generators are down, but I went out in summer and found it just covered in algae and no trout...Usually they're seen rising everywhere, but not the last time i went...How's the fishin been?

I haven't fished it in years. When I was at school back in the late 70's,
we used to go down there and catch stocked Brookies until we were tired of catching them. I also caught a very nice 16" raindow and several huge Carp back in the day.

The last time I was there back in 2000 I caught very small Browns. Before they built Lake Russell, the Hartwell tailwater was a lovely piece of water.
Dangerous...but lovely. We used to water ski on Saturdays and fish on Sundays.

I hope you find the info you are looking for.

Are there trout near Russell? My parents don't live far from there in SC. Might give me more reason to head home more.
