Blue sky, sunshine, warmer temps -- not a bad day to be out! Didn't get to the DH until about 1:30.
Also, didn't need to travel too far from Steele Bridge. Caught enough bows that I lost count. Split-shot and a BH soft hackle with a pink SJ Worm dropper was most preferred. Caught about half on the BH and half on the worm.
Got tired and threw some emergers and dries just for fun (there were some rises about 3:00). Didn't take anything on top, but it felt good to be throwing something without split-shot attached.
Sure made up for the lockjaw (skunk) a couple of weeks ago. Hope others get the opportunity in the next day or two. Not very challenging, but sure fun!

Levi and I made it up there at about 5:30 and we only got to fish for 20 min before it got too dark. I caught 8 and Levi caught 5. San Juan worm was the deal.

but the trout weren't really film worthy. The largest was about 14" smallest about 10". Plus it was about dark when we got there. We'll take some pictures of our trip Wednesday and we'll for sure take pics of out trip the 8th at Smithgall Woods.

My neighbor and I fished below the highway 53 bridge and at the Steel Bridge from yesterday morning into the early afternoon. We caught about 20 between the two of us on the south end. Sounds like a good haul, but the north end was unbelievable. Fishing right below the Steel Bridge, each of us caught on our first casts. For the next 2 hours, we must have pulled 50 fish out between the two of us. Someone I work with told me about a post where 60 fish were caught. I must admit that I didn't believe it to be true. After seeing how plentiful the fish were, I do believe it now.
I met Mediaven in the parking lot as we left, and as he said, it wasn't very challenging but it was fun.
Hello Bob, and good luck to you.

By the way, I was using a spinning rod, and no Dean, I have not gone to the dark side.

Come on down, Mossy.
Dakturn...that was me that posted that thread about 60 fish in 2 hours. I knew when I posted that it would get some flak (which it did) now I have been vindicated!!!!!
Mediaven was right, not too technical. Cast into the tailwater and BOOM!!! fish on! but most were just stocker sized and no chance for the bigguns. Wednesday I'm gonna track on downstream and see if I can find grandaddy. My biggest trout ever was a 33" 6lb 8oz rainbow out of the Hooch and I want another one of those. I came close on Dukes with a 5lb 6oz bow last year. Dad landed an 11lb Brown on the Hooch a few years back and I would love to hang one of those. I don't think anything like those fish exist in the Ami but I got Levi a new round tube for Christmas and I'm hoping we can hit the Hooch for a float trip this spring. We'll start planning it now and maybe we can get a group going.

Spinerboy & BrandonT is headed this way, so hopefully the cartecay will produce a bow, maybe a brown or three..
