View Full Version : Smith Creek Fishin
today I made it up to smith to do some fishing and caught 12 in little more than a hour. All were rainbows 12-14 in. I was having a lot of luck with a pink delectable worm. These fish aren't too much of a challenge so I'm sure you could throw just about anything and it would do the trick.
caught a half-dozen yesterday but had to fight off the spinner guys and Y2K slingers. I was told they stocked mid-last week, but I think someone is having a lot of rainbow for dinner if this is catch/release stocking.

No, but one of the guys offered me a sponge replica of a feed pellet - said that was all he used. Pretty close to live bait for me.

We use midges and nymphs to simulate what the trout eat. Well, those stocker eat trout chow. Nothing wrong with that. I don't see the problem after you beg the wife to go, spend the time and money driving to the stream, get up at the crack of dawn and then not catch a DH fish because they won't eat anything but trout chow. I mean, look at some other posts that tell you how the trout go crazy when they hear the 4 wheeler go by because they think the are gonna be fed. I don't see anything different between a chow fly and a Y2K or egg pattern. I like to fish but I like CATCHING fish a whole lot better.

yeah dad of a thousand...I've been a victim of the 4 wheeler as well...I mean I was fishing this one spot that was awesome...and keeping low and everything then all of a sudden mr. 4 wheeler threw in a couple cups of trout chow with no shame (just about on me ha)...from that point on I had no chance so I got out of the stream...but then again the fish have to eat :D
