Pink san Juan worms - fished deep on the bottom - size 18 dark pheasant tail dropper- as stated in other messages if you finish your section you are fishing too fast - it took me 50 or so cast in a 10 foot section to tempt a monster

Corn and red wigglers work great!! Just kidding. I have had great success with wooly buggers. Some colors work better than most, i just experiment but runner is right, pink SJW do the trick and seem to always work. So do pink Y2K's.

Dan

PS..I gave my spot on the 24th to Skibum so holler at him when you're up there.

I'll be sure to use some corn and I might get crazy enough to throw on some good ole powerbait...ha, but appreciate the tips, I just don't get up there as much as I should, I usually just fish noontootla, the hooch and the chestatee and used to fish waters before the season ended but maybe the fish will show us the christmas spirit on the 24 and one of us will catch a fatty hawg

Richie,

Last Sunday a friend and I were fishing Dukes, mostly with small stuff, and having sporadic success. I switched to an olive Hurless nymph and landed a 22" female rainbow and a 20" male rainbow in about 10 minutes before the van came to pick us up. Small was good but big was better.

Ami is right down the road from me, I gotta conference call in the am, can go after that, since I have never gone on the ami, where would a nasty man like me find an old hook wetter like you?

but you really can't miss me. I'll be on the creek somewhere. I'll have a white G. Loomis cap on with a tan vest, green waders and looking idiotic trying to cast a flyrod. I wear glasses and I have a goatee. I am 6'-6" tall which tends to stand out.

I drive a black Yukon with dealer tags on it and Royal Automotive decals and front tags.

Look forward to seeing you but I have to admit, after yesterday it may be a bit of a letdown.

You'll have to explain what you mean on this statement:
"Look forward to seeing you but I have to admit, after yesterday it may be a bit of a letdown."
How did I let you down??? I can only imagine...
Now with your 6'6 height, how the heck did you ever find a pair of waders to fit? Ha ! I bet you had to sew two pair together to fit your height ! tee hee heeee
As for the cell phone, I think you would make a perfect portable cell tower..
Oh man, I could keep going with this one, but wont..
I hope to see you tomorrow around noonish, what's your time frame?

Dad O' Plenty... you work in Decatur, live in Woodstock, and you are stopping by Bass Pro to pick up plastic worms? LOL

I need to do some Christmas shopping, but I'm thinking about putting it off until Thursday and heading up there tomorrow. :)

That you probably won't catch a 4 pounder like you guys did at your house.

I have no idea what time I will stay until. If it's cold I probably will fish for about 3 hours then head back home. Last Wednesday I couldn't even tie a fly I was so cold. I met a guy in the lot and he asked me what was working and I was too cold to talk. I just pointed to my flybox. After putting my hands in the creek 50 or 60 times to handle fish I was completely frozen.

No way did you let me down, I meant that the fish would be a letdown from the monster Spinboy caught up there.

No way dude...I am going up there to pick up Levi's tube I am getting him for Christmas and to get some Y2K bugs for tomorrow. Nothing else is open when I get off of work tonight and Levi is at his grandmother's so I can shop without getting the 20 question routine. Anyone that has a 13 year old son knows what I'm talking about.

Also my flybox magnets fell out and I have to get a new one. It won't close. It's 15 years old so it's due.

I have searched the net and have not found a ref to the Hurless Nymph. Care to share the pattern/description/pix? Thanx

finding y2k's at BPS D07. The ornery cuss in the fly shop got mad when I asked for them Sunday....He mumbled something about they couldn't buy them because they didn't have accounts with the right people. I find that hard to believe but there was no y2k in sight. Luckily Unicoi O. tied some for my local Orvis dealer (Yep, brand new location right here in Cartersville) and I picked up a couple and some PINK SJW's. You bums buy them all usually before I get there! I guess I am to blame blabbing about using pink worms all the time.

I cracked up laughing...the Orvis dealer actually had "hand-tied" "flies" that were made to resemble the dog food that those folks throw in the river to fatten up Mossy's fish...laughing aside, I bought one out of curiosity. I won't be tying it on at Duke's in the morning though...I'm pretty sure those fish would die from laughter and belly up.

I will make an attempt to catch a fish on a fly tomorrow and report back. The mid-day shuttle could lead me back to the spinning rod if the cold and frustration set in though... :)

Good luck on the Ami tomorrow.

D07,

Watch out for Mossy...If he sees you catch a fish, he will be casting over your shoulder before you can net it. JK Mossy! Glad to see I'm not the only monster on the board (6'5" 315)

Yes dad of plenty, spinboy is one of those corn fed dudes....
I figured I could sneak his spot while he was netting one, heck I'm sure I could have out run him ;)

As for the Y2k's and san juan's, this past saturday I went to Outdoor traditions up ga 400 in dawsonville, they had both, now I wished I'd got more if I had known they were hard to get, they had plenty there, $1.69 each..
Thx to spinboy on the wobbler's !
let us know how ya did spinboy....
