I posted earlier about the best place to hike in and fish, and it sounded like the Chattooga River was the best place, I have never seen the river, how big is it, how should I fish it, and what flies should i use, thanks again for everyones advice.

I hiked up for a few days the last two springs. Man, is it a peaceful river!! The fish can be finicky, so be patient. I like to use nymphs of varying sizes and colors, wooly buggers, and some caddis patterns. Some guys on the board who really know what they are doing can give you much better advice than me. I do enjoy that river though. Be patient, and fish each hole thoroughly. I remember a good bit of "pocket water", I really enjoy that!! Good luck

I fish the Chatooga with a big brown wooly booger. When the water is clear, a dead drift booger works great. If the drift aint working, try and strip it across likely looking runs, perpendicular to the flow. Stay out of the water as much as you can. Keep your head down when approching a pool or run. Don't neglect to fish the lips of the pools and runs. Make sure your first cast to a particular run is a good one, it might be your only chance. Also hike as far away from access area as time allows.

For some great tips, and possibly a few fishing buddies, go to www.rabuntu.com

Check out some of the old newsletters for tips, or even email some of the people you can find on the site. They're a bunch of good guys.

Try the DH section or Burrells Ford.
