Renting a cabin for three days from the 29th to the 1st of the year in blue rigde. I am going to be with some beginners to the sport and want somewhere with good winter fishing (possibly a dlelayed harvest). I would love to show them a good one for the first time. I know we will be next to the toccoa and possibly get a chance to fish fightingtown creek. Any suggestions on types of flies for either, and any particular spots to set up would really help a lot. Plus if you know of any other places within a short drive, I am sure we would like to move around a bit. Running a little short on time so please post any replies asap. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Public access on the Toccoa below the dam is limited to the Dam, Tammen Park and Horseshoe Bend Park. But, you may already know this.
Be sure to check the daily generation schedul. Web address is:

Or you can call @ 800-238-2264 then 24#
Others may provide other river info, this is my "home" river. Of course, there's nothing in it but chubs ;)

Your first stop should be Unicoi Outfitters Fly Shop in downtown Blue Ridge. Talk to Metrela Brown -the store manager there. They have all the up-to-date info on where to go and what they're biting. See their Forum below on this BB.

Rickster....I am not that familiar with the toccoa. Funny thing about the chubs.....I always seem to get a few haha. There is a delayed harvest there below the dam right? Any suggestions on flies? Since it is your home water, I am guessing that you live around there. So are you pretty familiar with surrounding waters? Please let me know if you have any suggestions for me. I will be with my brothers and hopefully teaching them to fly fish with their new gear that I got them for christmas and I dont want them to get too discouraged. Also, i did post it on unicoi. thanks for the help old man!
