I am just starting the sport and don't want to waste a lot of money since I don't know how I'm going to like it yet?....For a beginner, what is a good pair of waders that I can start out with without breaking the bank?

I was in the same boat a few months ago. I purchased a pair of hodgman streamlite breathables from Sports Authority (might have been Streamlite II), they are currently on sale for about 65.00. I have worn them about 4 times and not had any problems out of them yet.

I know from watching the boards here some folks have had problems with them leaking, but so far I have not.

If you can afford to spend a little more money, there are several other pair you can purchase for under 130.

My advise is to go ahead and get the best you can afford. I too said I would buy "inexpensive" equipment, in case I didn't like flyfishing. Now, 3 pair of waders, many rods, tying equipment, yada, yada, yada later, I look back and see that I could have saved money by going ahead and getting better equipment to start with. JMHO

How many people do you know of that tried it and DIDN'T like it?

I totally agree with fishnpreacher. You can buy it wrong 4 times or buy it right once. My personal favorite is the Simms Lightweight Stockingfoot (http://www.simmsfishing.com/za/SIM?PAGE=PRODUCT_DETAILS&CAT=waders&PROD.ID=14450) for fishing in the SE United States. A little bit pricey at $199 but not too bad and the comfort, durability and gore tex construction make it more than worth the extra buck or two.
