Caught this 20" rainbow this past summer during an evening hatch...it was an awesome fight on my lil 3wt rod

This was my sons first fish ever. I took him to a trout farm near Rome, GA and I thought we would just be catching stocker size trout. Well I got his little scooby doo rod and put some power bait on and threw it in the waterand next thing I know the rod is almost jerked out of his hand I grab it just in time and tell him REEL, REEL, REEL! Well he pulls it in and its a nice fat Bow it weighed in at 3.5 pounds. And it is actually larger than any trout I have ever caught. LOL. The pic is crummy cause all I had was my camera phone. But it was awsome to say the least I couldnt wipe that smile off his face for days.

I'm pretty sure nightfishing for trout is frowned upon by Big Brother? %)

... is not very good, but... It is of an estimated 6lb 'bow from some private water I got to fish with a very old friend of mine (guide) in NC. Beautiful short stretch of water with all species of trout in it, including 5 lb Goldens and 2x 12 lb Kamloops. And man, the Kamloops are nuts! They run more, faster and quicker than a steelie. Buddy said the land rate is about 10-15%. I managed to keep mine on for three runs and felt pretty good. My buddy only managed 2 runs on his!

My 'bow was sitting under a shelf in a hole 3-4' deep at the edge of a long flat bottom of rock. I could NOT get my fly to drop in the short, small deep hole where the bow could see it. It would just skim high in the water column, get back over the shallow rock flats and dang 2lb brookies would slam it as I jerked it back in for another cast/drift. Who would have EVER thought you would complain dragging in 2 lb brookies!!??!!

Well, my buddy anounces last cast, time to go. And Wallah! The fishing gods smiled on me, just for a few seconds. The very next cast is perfect, the fly sinks into the 'bow's feeding lane and it comes up and all I see is the white cotton puff of its mouth opening. Raise the rod and connect with the lasrgest trout of my life. I was thrilled, and best of all it I was fishing with a very good, long-time friend. It was a perfect day. Oh yeah, I caught some of those 5 lb Goldens too! How good is that!

This was 9 1/2 lbs on the Boga Grip. He came out of the water three times and a thrill to catch.

If that giant came out of Lake Carroll- I'm Lefty Kreh! (grin) That is unless that is a giant carp. I've caught a couple out of there back in '95 when I coached at Central. I'd love to catch one of those monster carp on a fly rod. I'm talking 30-45 pounds of freshwater fish!

I haven't thought of Lake Carroll in a long time. Thanks for bringing up a good memory-

Lake Carroll!!! Too funny. I hear that folks from Carrollton have an exceptional sense of humor! OK...NO joking...where'd ya catch the trout. Don't make me come back down there and beat the information out of you. ;)

Fish is huge, were you fishing on private or public land on the soque?
