Has anyone been on the Conasauga lately? I've been thinking of giving it a try. I went in last year around this time of year and got shunked. Although, I did see one monster rainbow. Of course, my luck, it saw me first! If so, how was the fishing? Is it worth the hike in? Where did you go in at? What type of flies worked the best?

I fished it New Years day. Perfect weather, but got skunked. It's always worth the hike in just for the solitude and scenery. Saw one of the biggest woodpeckers I've ever seen that day. I went in Hickory Creek (I believe that's what it is called) up from Crandall past Hickey Gap. I was fishing mostly stone fly nymphs and olive and black wooly buggers. Water looked great.

mb90535im,

Just curious if you have ever gone off at what they call the Slide-off?

You're probably referring to what I know as either Chicken Coop Gap or Paint Bank Gap. I have been in and out at both locations, altough that was many, many moons ago. I don't think physically I'm even close to being up to it now days.

I know you want current info, but there is oodles of information on past threads... most of it is relevant regardless of when it was posted...
