Check out this site and try getting in contact with them to figure out what kind of flies would be good for that time of year. http://www.duranglers.com/ The San Juan is a nice river although I have yet to fish it. If you come up to northern colorado let me know as I know a few places up here as well as some of Wyoming.
You may also encounter the dreaded snowmelt runoff in April which will put a huge damper on fish. If that is the case hit the headwaters and the fishing will still be good, not super great but good.
Have a good one,
Joe

thanks man I appreciate it! Did you just get back from trip out there?
I live in Denver. Fish the tail waters around here a lot and they seem to fish about the same in most places out here. Another good one out here is the disco midge. April offers mostly tail water fishing, although run off might not be too bad in Southern CO this year. The animas will offer up some good water to ya.
